The new Revenue Recognition Standard has finally been issued. The new guidance standardizes how companies should recognize revenue under U.S. GAAP and IFRS. This conference will go through the new guidance and address the latest developments in key areas, significant changes, scope, disclosure and impacts. The agenda is very similar to our more general Revenue Recognition conference but the examples, case studies and practical walk-throughs will be focused on software.

The Western Regional Conference is the premiere risk management conference leading the field in addressing and combating risk. Join in the adventure, pitfalls, and triumphs of an immigrant female entrepreneur in Silicon Valley. Share in the life lessons of personal and professional (lack of) risk management as Kim Le recounts stories from living under a plastic tarp in a refugee camp to growing up homeless to losing a job when 8-months pregnant to starting a company when 5-months pregnant. Despite the best laid plans, our life journeys are full of moments that define and shape us in unimaginable ways.

What a Long Strange Trip It’s Been: Reflections on the IPO Process from Directors

Our panelists will discuss their experiences going through the IPO process as independent directors and advisors. In particular, they will discuss how the experience differed from what they expected going into it, what surprises came up along the way and how they dealt with issues as they arose. The discussion will focus on the role of independent directors in this process, what decisions need to be made by the board and likely issues that may arise. These issues include board composition, management changes and filling key roles, compensation considerations, publicity, involvement of board members in disclosure-related issues, timing considerations, D&O insurance, training for being a public company director, dealing with auditors, and others
