In His Own Words
This is the Malaysian refugee camp
where I spent part of my childhood. |
I was born in Vietnam. In 1979, my mother took my grandmother, my sister, and me to a Malaysian
refugee camp. We spent two years there before immigrating to San Jose, CA.
I spent five years in the United States Army, including a tour of duty in Kuwait in the time leading up
to the first Gulf War. My service in the Army provides me with the unconventional perspective I bring
to business: setting high goals, thinking big, solving unstructured problems under pressure, building
efficiency into processes, and creating a team that works towards a shared vision. I have
experienced ordinary people doing extraordinary things because they believed in a common good.
While I value my time in the Army greatly, I continue to question authority and the status quo.
Whenever someone says "It can't be done," I start thinking of how it can be done.
